My eyes were still shut tight,
waiting for when the sharp
blade will pierce into my
skin and how loud I will
scream, at the same time
seeing myself bleed to
death. I was just imagining
how my spirit will leave
my body, me wey be fine
boy… The ladies guy. How I
will only be missed by my
parents and how those who
claim they love will only
come to eat rice during my
burial and still go clubbing
on FRIDAY, forgetting me
totally, forgetting how they
will wish to dance with me.
I waited for my death and
when it didn’t come when it
was supposed to, I opened
my eyes and saw Kosi
bringing the knife down……
The light came up and I saw
what I never expected…
Beside Kosi were
.
.
. .
Jegede and Williams, the
other two guys in my cartel.
How could I not have
noticed them? How could I
not have known they were
actually the ones doing this
to me but could they be truly
dead? When and how?
The three of them were
rooted on the ground, they
weren’t moving, as if
paused. The knife dropped
from Kosi’s hand to the
floor. I quickly picked it and
pointed it on them. Kosi
stepped back and joined the
Jegede and Williams and
they stood in a queue.
I looked at them critically
well, Jegede poured powder
on his face and I noticed my
home theatre remote in his
hand. Williams had a pocket
mic tugged on his shirt. I
believe that was what made
their laughter louder and it
was connected to a
small wireless amp that was
plugged in the wall socket.
Why didn’t I notice all these
all this while? And I was just
fidgeted.
We kept on staring at
ourselves. No one wanted to
break the silence first. Then
Kosi looked down on me
and noticed the wet spot on
my trouser and nudged
both Williams and Jegede
who broke into an outburst
of laughter, that I almost felt
embarrass.
Kosi: See man pikin wey de
fear like woman. Chai!!! I
beta pass you oooo
Me: Why did you guys do
this to me na? Why na?
Jegede: Na normal normal
guy. Sometimes, we have
got to catch some fun They
laughed again and began
pulling off their
disguise. Kosi undid hers
and came over and gave me
a tight hug.
Kosi: I am so sorry!! I know
we scared you to the
marrow
Me: You can’t imagine how I
almost died her. See you
people shouldn’t try this
again ooo. Oya, start
arranging this room now.
This will be your
punishment. I went to the
bathroom, pulled off and
took my bath. I quickly
washed the messed up cloth
and
changed to a jersey before
coming out of the
bathroom.
The room was already set
and arranged. I was so
happy to see Kosi after all.
Jegede brought out a spiced
fish and we ate with a bottle
of red wine I brought from
my fish. We talked a lot
about what happened
recently, how it was
arranged and planned. I
was marveled at their
creativity and my own
foolishness.
We spent like an hour
before Williams said he was
leaving.
Jegede: Your sweetheart go
dey with you na
Williams: No give am bele o.
She also be our own
sweetheart We laughed.
Kosi: Twill be beta dat way
sef
Jegede: How?
Kosi: He won’t run away
from me anymore. Na so I
go cage am
Williams: Bad girl
Me: No be small. Her own
don get level pass Nicki
Minaj.
I saw them out and twas
already past 2am. Williams
came with his car, so he will
drop Jegede off. All these
guys with parents that has
b——s money.
Jegede was the Cassanova
amongst us while Williams
was the “You can’t get me”
guy. He flirt with those that
had levels and he was
currently dating a Minister’s
daughter.
Kosi and I returned to the
room after they were gone.
She changed to her night
wear while I made sure the
door was properly locked. I
went to bed while she laid
her head on my chest. What
an amazing girl. She was
pulling the hairs on my
chest and giggling too.
Me: Kosi
Kosi: Not like I have
forgotten my name
Me: Even though
Kosi: Eh heh! What is it?
Me: Good
Kosi: Bad
Me: Whatever. I thought you
were supposed to travel.
Kosi: I changed my mind
Me: Why? What happened?
Kosi: Thank God first for
seeing me first.
Me: God thank you oooo.
After you na you ooooo
She hit me hard on the
chest.
Kosi: E don do
Me: Now tell me….
